Thursday Recap: Grads, Colts earn key wins

A 35-save Seth Carter shutout led the way as the Navan Grads blanked the host Kanata Lasers 2-0 on Thursday night at the KRC.

Zach Salloum and Mike McPherson had the goals for the resurgent Grads (7-14-0), who picked up their first road win and have now won back-to-back games for the first time all season.

Logan Bateman took the loss in his CCHL debut between the pipes for Kanata (9-11-3), allowing two goals on 32 shots.

Cornwall 5, Rockland 2

J.D. Pogue stepped up in a big way for Cornwall, scoring a hat-trick and leading the hometown Colts to an emphatic 5-2 win over the visiting Rockland Nationals on Thursday.

The hosts (11-10-2) dominated, outshooting Rockland (11-10-2) by a 45-23 margin en route to their 11th win of the year.

The loss was the fifth in a row for Dan Sauve’s Nationals, who have fallen from third to seventh in the span of two weeks.
