Prospect Report: November

Ottawa, Ont. — As the competition around the CCHL has picked up, players have been added and dealt elsewhere, and teams have begun to find their identity, so too have teams in CCHL-2.

Tasso Vasilas’s Ottawa Jr. Canadians are off to a red-hot 16-1-1 start, while the dynastic Casselman Vikings are hot on their heels at 13-1-2.

Here are five players that are garnering serious attention around the league through the first two months of play.

1. Reece Bolton, F (Carleton Place II): The 2000-born C.P. forward leads the prospect rankings for a second-straight month. Bolton is tied for second in league scoring with 16 goals in 18 games, and co-leads the surging CPC-2 team (12-6-1) in scoring with 29 points.

2. Ryland Mosley, F (Carleton Place II): The 2000-born Canadians forward bumps up to No. 2 this month, and has seven points (4G, 3A) in his last four games. The Division-I commit (Alabama-Huntsville) is currently tied for third in the CCHL-2 in assists (17), and co-leads CPC-2 in points (29).

3. Zach Paputsakis, G (Casselman): The 2001-born Vikings netminder lands himself on the list this month following a dominant October in which he posted a ridiculous .958 save-%. The Oshawa Generals draft pick leads CCHL-2 in both goals-against (1.88) and save-% (.936) — at age 15.

4. Ryan Whitehurst, G (Ottawa): The 1999-born Jr. Canadians netminder won eight of his nine starts during the month of October, and now sits second in CCHL-2 in goals-against (2.25) and third in save-% (.924).

5. Evan Huntley, D (Char-Lan): The 2000-born Rebels blueliner has been a steadying presence on the back end. With a solid 6-foot-1, 190-lb. frame — and 11 points (4G, 7A) in 19 games — Huntley appears ready to make the jump to the next level in the near future.

Coach’s PickJustin Jamer, F (Ottawa-West): The 2001-born Golden Knights forward has drawn the attention of plenty CCHL and OHL scouts this season, posting 10 points (4G, 6A) in 15 games. One to keep an eye on.
