THREE MORE CCHL TALENTS MAKE NCAA DIV I COMMITMENTS

As each week goes by in the 2015-16 CCHL season, more and more CCHL talents are earning exposure and being looked at from organizations at the next level.

Over the past week, three more current CCHL skaters have made NCAA Div I commitments as Kemptville 73's defenseman Quinn Wichers will head to Mercyhurst, Carleton Place Canadians rookie goaltender Colton Point has committed to Colgate, and Cumberland Grads rookie defenseman Matthieu Franche will join Merrimack.

QUINN WICHERS – KEMPTVILLE 73'S

The Metcalfe, ON native is in his 3rd full season of CCHL action with the Kemptville 73's and continues to improve each game.  He is a pain to play against as he can really throw his 6-3, 215 lb frame around.  Although he is known to be better in his own end, Wichers has the tools to contribute in the offensive zone as his 3 goals and 10 points in 22 games put him on pace to reach a new career highs this season. Mercyhurst University will acquire his services in the Fall of 2017.

COLTON POINT – CARLETON PLACE CANADIANS

In just his rookie season of CCHL action, Colton Point has put together some strong numbers so far.  He is currently riding a three-game win streak and his 10 wins place him 3rd overall for wins in the CCHL.  Listed at 6-3, 220 lbs, Point has the size and strength to have a succesfful playing career.  Not known as an overly athletic goaltender, but he covers the angles well, makes a good frist save, controls rebounds and makes goaltending look easy.  The North Bay, ON native will head off to Colgate University for the 2017-18 school year.

MATTHIEU FRANCHE – CUMBERLAND GRADS

Still just 16-years old, Cumberland Grads rookie defenseman Matthieu Franche has not let his age make him look out of place in a league mostly made up of 18-20 year olds.  Through 16 games he has picked up 9 assists, and sits 3rd overall in team blue line scoring.  Listed at 6-2, 175 lbs, the Orleans, ON native still has a lot of room to grow and fill out which could make him a very scary player down the road.  The big stay-at-home defender wins more battles than he loses and although the offense hasn't busted through yet, he has nothing but time to develop those skills.  He will spend this season, followed by another two in the CCHL before making the jump to Merrimack College for the 2018-19 school year.
