Cornwall wins tough contest against Kanata, 3-2

 

The Cornwall Colts and the Kanata Lasers were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Cornwall made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

The Colts gained the winning advantage on a goal by Ross Craig 16:44 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

 

Cornwall was led by Craig, who grabbed one goal.

The Colts stifled Kanata's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Cornwall forced the Lasers goalie Alex Butler to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots.

Cornwall also had goals scored by Tristan Conrad and Shawn Baird, who each put in one. In addition, Cornwall received assists from Sebastian Dirven and Brennan Markell, who contributed one each and Dean Derouchie and Tanner Spink, who each chipped in two.

Kanata was helped by Cole Lussier, who had one goal. Lussier scored short handed 9:10 into the second period to make the score 2-2. A cross checking call on Mike McArthur put the Lasers on the penalty kill. Ty Power also scored for Kanata. Other players who recorded assists for Kanata were Guisten Annetta, who had one.

Liam Lascelle made 21 saves for the Colts on 23 shots. Cornwall incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Butler rejected 41 shots on goal for Kanata. The Lasers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
