Smiths Falls squeaks by Gloucester, 5-3

 

The Smiths Falls Bears gutted out a close 5-3 win against the Gloucester Rangers.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Cole Busschaert at 15:11 of the third period.

 

Smiths Falls was led by Busschaert, who registered one goal and one assist.

The Bears excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Smiths Falls kept Gloucester's goalie busy throughout the game, and Cedric Hansen made 41 saves on 46 shots.

Smiths Falls additionally got points from Broydon Stufko, who also had one goal and one assist and Josh Leblanc, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Smiths Falls also had goals scored by Jesse Blais and Anthony DiPlacido, who scored one goal each. More assists for Smiths Falls came via Caleb Perez, Chris MacMillan, Matthew Kenney, Corey Caruso, Joey Rutkowski, and Zach Main, who contributed one each.

The Rangers were helped by Jordan Renaud, who finished with one goal. Renaud scored 8:17 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Gloucester. Shane McCrank assisted on the tally. Others who scored for Gloucester included Salim Mahi-Beaudry and Vincent Guimond, who each put in one. In addition, Gloucester received assists from Jahwara Rennalls, who had two and Drew Shields and Sander Boroczky, who each chipped in one.

The Bears took out Dyllan Lubbesmeyer after he had made 13 saves and installed Evan DeBrouwer in goal, where he finished with four saves and the win. Smiths Falls incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Gloucester incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
