Hawkesbury downs Ottawa in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

 

The Hawkesbury Hawks' Joe Smith scored 1:47 into overtime to beat the Ottawa Senators, 3-2 (OT).

 

Hawkesbury was led by Smith, who racked up one goal.

The Hawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Ottawa power plays.

Others who scored for Hawkesbury included Damien Charette and Brandon Barillaro, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Hawkesbury were Vincent Crivello, who had two and Julien Denicourt and Bruno Cheff, who contributed one each.

Ottawa excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

The Senators were helped by Mitchell Gibson, who registered one goal. Gibson scored 1:26 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Ottawa. Jody Sullivan provided the assist. Louis-Charles Croteau also scored for Ottawa. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Greg Meireles, Daniel Sarracco, and Jim Pearson, who each chipped in one.

Hawkesbury's Cole Skinner stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Hawks incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For Hawkesbury, Jacob Drobczyk was ejected from the game. Ian Andriano rejected 20 shots on goal for Ottawa. The Senators incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
