Carleton Place beats Nepean 3-0 as Point gains shutout

 

The Carleton Place Canadians used a sparkling performance by Colton Point to take down the Nepean Raiders, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Carleton Place's 3-0 shutout victory.

 

The Canadians were led by Matt Lombardozzi, who had one goal. Lombardozzi scored 2:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Carleton Place.

Carleton Place's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Nepean power plays. The Canadians forced Nepean goalie Francis Marotte to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Carleton Place also had goals scored by Jacob Moreau and Jordan Larson, who scored one goal each. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Lucas Batt, Geoff Kitt, and Alex Robinson, who contributed one each.

The Raiders excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Nepean's offense operated below its season average. The Raiders average 2.3 goals per game.

Point rejected 25 shots on goal for Carleton Place. The Canadians ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. For Carleton Place, Will LeNeave was ejected from the game. Nepean's Marotte stopped 29 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Raiders incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
