Ottawa erases deficit to stun Smiths Falls, 3-2

 

Undaunted by a two-goal deficit, the Ottawa Senators battled back to claim a 3-2 victory over the Smiths Falls Bears.

Ottawa never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Senators trailed 2-0 after a goal by Smiths Falls' Brett Garvey at 9:24 in the second period. Ottawa knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Jared Leslie at 18:46 in the second period. The Senators netted the game winner at 13:38 in the third period on a goal by Leslie.

 

Ottawa was led by Daniel Sarracco, who finished with one goal.

The Senators stifled the Bears' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Ottawa also got a goal from Jaren Burke as well. In addition, Ottawa received assists from Zacharie Car, who had one and Sean Rappleyea, who had two.

Smiths Falls was helped by Rutkowski Joey, who grabbed one goal. Joey scored 14:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Smiths Falls. Matthew Kenney provided the assist. More assists for Smiths Falls came via Broydon Stufko and Michael McKenney, who each chipped in one.

Marcus Paulino recorded 25 saves for Ottawa. The Senators incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Bears' Evan DeBrouwer stopped 21 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Smiths Falls incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
