Ottawa downs Kanata, 5-2

 

Mitchell Gibson racked up two points to lead the Ottawa Senators to a 5-2 victory over the Kanata Lasers.

 

Ottawa forced Kanata goalie Alex Butler to work between the pipes, taking 50 shots.

Others who scored for Ottawa included Alexandre Way, Daniel Sarracco, Jody Sullivan, and Zachary Cross, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa were Luke McCaw, who had two and Cameron White, Evan Lindquist, Sean Rappleyea, Brett Van Stralen, Elie Boulerice, and Jim Pearson, who each chipped in one.

The Lasers stifled the Senators' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Kanata also had goals scored by Yannick Martel and Cole Lussier, who each put in one. More assists for Kanata came via David Pearce, Kyle Dowdall, and Tyler Young, who contributed one each.

Marcus Paulino made 14 saves for Ottawa on 16 shots. The Senators incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Butler recorded 45 saves for Kanata. The Lasers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
