Larose leads Cumberland over Cornwall, 8-3

 

The Cumberland Grads' Michael Larose had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 8-3 win over the Cornwall Colts.

Larose's tallies came at 11:21 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Cumberland and on the power play 18:50 into the second to make the score 6-0 Cumberland.

 

Cumberland forced Cornwall's goalies to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots and forcing 32 saves. Liam Lascelle made 24 stops and Brett Nichol made eight. The Grads excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Cumberland found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Grads have scored at the pace of 4.4 goals per game during the current campaign.

Cumberland additionally got points from Mathieu Dubois, who also racked up two goals and one assist, Branden Makara, who also had one goal and one assist, Cody Kyle, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Martin Frechette, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Tyler Barban also scored for Cumberland. More assists for Cumberland came via Ted McCabe, who had two, Marc-Olivier Bouchard, who had three, and Grant Hebert, Shawn Cameron, Simon Besner, and DAndre John, who contributed one each.

Cumberland was unable to stop the Colts from sending pucks towards the net, and Cornwall eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. The Colts were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 17 penalty minutes.

Cornwall was helped by Brennan Markell, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Markell scored short handed 2:47 into the third period to make the score 7-1 Cumberland. Konnor MacCormick picked up the assist. Cornwall also got points from Lawson MacDonald, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Cornwall also got a goal from Matthew Morin as well. In addition, Cornwall received assists from Sebastian Dirven, Tanner Spink, and Jeremy McFarlane, who each chipped in one.

Ryan Coughlin made 37 saves for the Grads on 40 shots. Cumberland incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For the Colts, Ross Craig was ejected from the game.
