Kemptville hangs on, beats Brockville 2-1

 

The Kemptville 73s took the lead against the Brockville Braves in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 2-1 victory.

A goal 7:53 into the first period by Adam Alavi proved to be the game winner, and powered Kemptville to the victory. The 73s had gained a power play chance when Andrew Jarvis was whistled for tripping. Owen Guy assisted on the tally.

 

Kemptville was led by goalie Peter Brooks, who finished with 43 saves while allowing one goal. Brooks managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.36 prior to the game.

The 73s were sparked by Cameron Bisson, who tallied one goal. Bisson scored 12:48 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Kemptville. Tyler Beauparlant picked up the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 8:03 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Kemptville forced Brockville goalie Henry Johnson to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots.

In addition, Kemptville received assists from Matthew Titus and Alex Row, who contributed one each.

The Braves could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Brockville averages 3.2 goals per game. The Braves' offense rang up 44 shots on the 73s' net.

Brockville was led by Ian Johnston, who scored the team's only goal. Johnston scored on the power play 9:58 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Kemptville. A fighting penalty on Cameron Russell had put the Braves on the power play. Jack Billings assisted on the tally.

Kemptville totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. The 73s ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Russell was ejected from the game. Brockville's Johnson stopped 40 shots out of the 42 that he faced. The Braves totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For Brockville, Tristen Bernard was ejected from the game.
