Kemptville downs Pembroke in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

 

The Kemptville 73s pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Pembroke Lumber Kings on a clutch goal by Bobby Dow.

 

Pembroke could not complete its climb out of a two-goal hole. Kemptville made it 2-0 on a goal by Dean Kiriacou at 8:59 in the second period. The Lumber Kings pulled to within 2-1 on a goal by Derek Varrin at 13:21 in the third period.

The 73s were sparked by Dow, who racked up one goal. Dow scored 3:27 into overtime to make the score 3-2 Kemptville. Quinn Wichers assisted on the tally.

Kemptville stifled Pembroke's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The 73s kept the Lumber Kings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Gabe Mollot-Hill made 41 saves on 44 shots.

Kemptville additionally got points from Wichers, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Kemptville were Victor Tracy, who had one and Adam Alavi, who had two.

Pembroke excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

The Lumber Kings were helped by Chris Minns, who grabbed one goal. Minns scored 17:41 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Justin Felhaber picked up the assist. More assists for Pembroke came via Nicolas Vlahos, who had two.

Nicholas Hodgins rejected 28 shots on goal for Kemptville. The 73s incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Pembroke incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
