Kemptville, Ont. — The Kemptville 73’s announced today that Jeff Jordan has been hired to replace Rob Dopson as head coach.
Jordan, one of the league’s up-and-coming coaches at 33, joins the 73’s after being relieved of his duties with the Kanata Lasers less than a month ago.
The Ottawa native will help run — alongside Jason York — the 73’s U-18 team in addition to his Junior-A duties.
“I’m very excited and thankful for the opportunity the Kemptville organization extended to me,” said Jordan. “Both the Jr. A and U18 rosters are full of quality players and I can’t wait to begin working with everyone.”
Jordan compiled a 25-36-6 (.418) record during his year-plus with the Lasers.
Dopson, 50, accrued a 2-9-1 record in his first head-coaching stint in the CCHL with Kemptville.
Jordan’s first game behind the bench will come Wednesday night, when the 73’s will host Smiths Falls (7:30 p.m.).
Kemptville currently sits 11th in the 12-team CCHL, and sports the worst goal-difference (minus-20) and defensive record (52GA) in the league.
