Ottawa, Ont. — While players were vying for university scholarships and the attention of NHL scouts during the first month of play in the CCHL, younger players in the CCHL-2 were beginning their seasons with the hope of catching the eye of their CCHL parent club.
Below is a list of five players in the development circuit that impressed during the first month of play.
- Reece Bolton, F (Carleton Place II): The 2000-born forward out of Almonte has lit the CCHL-2 on fire to begin 2017-18, tallying a league-high 12 goals in his first 10 games. His projectable frame (6’1, 180 lbs.) and torrid scoring pace make him an early favourite for the jump to the top level.
- Darian McTavish, G (Whitewater): The 1999-born goaltender has posted a ridiculous 0.98 goals-against with a .961 save-% through three starts. While the big club in Pembroke appears to have its goaltending solidifying, McTavish has looked sharp.
- Ryland Mosley, F (Carleton Place II): The 2000-born winger from Arnprior has shown increased playmaking ability this season en route to a league-high 11 assists. His commitment to NCAA Division-I Alabama-Huntsville earlier this season has set a new precedent within CCHL-2.
- Ryan Pawlikowski, F (Richmond): The 2000-born forward has opened the season at a point-per-game pace, and has elite skill for the CCHL-2. With parent club Kemptville struggling offensively, perhaps a call-up is on the near horizon for the Stittsville native.
- Liam MacDonald, F (Char-Lan): The 2000-born playmaker has had an offensive breakout (6G, 5A) to begin 2017-18 after spending the last two years with Cornwall’s AAA team.
