Kanata falls to Hawkesbury after surprising comeback

 

The Hawkesbury Hawks rallied from two goals down to secure a 5-4 win over the Kanata Stallions.

Hawkesbury let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Hawks took a 3-2 advantage on a goal by Jason Brochu at 19:16 in the first period. Hawkesbury went down 2-0 after Kanata's Tyler ONeill put the puck home at 4:14 in the first period. After knotting things up at 4-4 on a goal by Hugo Petit at 19:14 in the second, the Hawks got the game-winner from Phil Johansson at 6:05 in the third period.

 

Hawkesbury got the win behind a great game by Johansson, who had one goal and two assists.

The Stallions were unable to stop the Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Hawkesbury eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Hawkesbury also got points from Ross Mandigo, who also tallied one goal and one assist and CJ Stubbs, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Hawkesbury received assists from Rory Gagnon, Tristan Perreault-Gagnon, and Hunter Racine, who contributed one each.

Kanata additionally got points from Ian Johnston, who also registered one goal and one assist and ONeill, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Kanata were Bryce Biller, Jean-Philippe Langlois, Ethan MacLean, and James Thomson, who each chipped in one.

CJ Sharp recorded 22 saves for the Hawks. Hawkesbury totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. For the Hawks, Marc-Antoine Bourbonnais was ejected from the game. Kanata's Brian Wilson stopped 27 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Stallions totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. For Kanata, Johnny Kyte and Dylan Mascarin were ejected from the contest.
