Hawkesbury wins tough contest against Smiths Falls, 3-2

 

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Hawkesbury Hawks escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Smiths Falls Bears.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Vincent Crivello at 8:18 of the third period.

 

Hawkesbury was led by Crivello, who tallied one goal and one assist.

The Hawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Hawkesbury kept Smiths Falls' goalie busy throughout the game, and Evan DeBrouwer made 35 saves on 38 shots.

Hawkesbury also had goals scored by Eric Theander and Bruno Cheff, who each put in one. In addition, Hawkesbury received assists from Damien Charette, Johnathan Kovacevic, and Brandon Barillaro, who each chipped in one.

The Bears were helped by Matthew Kenney, who registered one goal. Kenney scored 4:09 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Smiths Falls. Tyler Creagh picked up the assist. Chris MacMillan also scored for Smiths Falls. Other players who recorded assists for Smiths Falls were Jared Henry, Brett Garvey, and Josh Leblanc, who contributed one each.

The Hawks' Cole Skinner stopped 22 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Hawkesbury incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Smiths Falls incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
