Hawkesbury rolls over Kanata, 7-1

 

The Kanata Lasers had trouble finding ways to stop the Hawkesbury Hawks, which beat Lasers, 7-1.

 

Johnathan Kovacevic quarterbacked Hawkesbury's offense to perfection and bagged four assists in the Hawks' win over Kanata.

Hawkesbury forced the Lasers' netminders to work in net, ripping 31 shots and forcing 24 saves. Alex Butler made 19 stops and Jean-Philipe Tourigny made five. The Hawks outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Hawkesbury averages 3.7 goals per contest. The Hawks got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Hawkesbury also got points from Jacob Drobczyk, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Hawkesbury included Adriano Leone and Joe Smith, who each put in two and Damien Charette and Ryan Bunka, who scored one goal each. In addition, Hawkesbury received assists from Bruno Cheff, who had two and Charles Levesque, Eric Theander, Vincent Crivello, Reid Murphy, Chris Smith, and Jonathan Tecce, who contributed one each.

Kanata was led by Johnny Pickering, who scored the team's only goal. Pickering scored 4:11 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Stavros Soilis assisted on the tally.

Hawkesbury's Cole Skinner stopped 22 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Hawks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Lasers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
