Gilmour leads Pembroke over Nepean, 5-1

 

The Pembroke Lumber Kings' Alex Gilmour had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 5-1 win over the Nepean Raiders.

Gilmour scored 18:18 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Ben VanOoteghem provided the assist. Gilmour dished an assist on Derek Varrin's goal that made the score 2-1 Pembroke at 18 seconds into the second period. He added another helper on Noah Maika's goal that made the score 4-1 Pembroke at 12:36 into the second period.

 

Pembroke was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and two majors for 24 minutes in penalty time. The Lumber Kings surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. Pembroke's offense rang up 40 shots on Nepean's net.

Pembroke also got points from Varrin, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Pembroke also had goals scored by Nicolas Vlahos and Brett Horn, who each put in one. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Patrick Kyte, who had two and Cale List, Tyler ONeill, and Adam Beveridge, who contributed one each.

The Raiders racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and two majors for 24 minutes in penalty time. Nepean had been averaging 16.0 minutes in penalties per game.

The Raiders were led by Corey Tam, who scored the team's only goal. Tam scored on the power play 6:47 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Nepean. Nepean earned a power play opportunity when Kyte was put in the box for roughing. Samuel Meisenheimer picked up the assist.

Gabe Mollot-Hill recorded 17 saves for the Lumber Kings. Pembroke registered one goal on five power play opportunities. For the Lumber Kings, Johnny Kyte and Fraser Turner were ejected from the contest. Francis Marotte made 35 saves for the Raiders on 40 shots. Nepean registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Team's Blake Dalton and PJ Heger were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
