MacDonald's hat trick boosts Cornwall over Gloucester, 7-0

 

Lawson MacDonald netted a hat trick to lead the Cornwall Colts over the Gloucester Rangers, 7-0.

MacDonald's first goal came 10:31 into the first period. He then added goals at 16:59 into the first and at 5:00 into the second.

 

Cornwall was boosted by Liam Lascelle, who turned in a shutout with 25 saves. Lascelle certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.89 entering the contest.

The Colts forced Gloucester goalie Georgis Rentopoulos to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. Cornwall surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Colts average 3.4 goals per game.

Others who scored for Cornwall included Ross Craig, Sebastian Dirven, Shawn Baird, and Justin McRae, who scored one goal each. In addition, Cornwall received assists from Tanner Spink, who had three, Eric Verville, Dean Derouchie, Matthew Morin, Parker Krol, Jeremy McFarlane, and Lawson MacDougall, who each chipped in one, and Tristan Conrad and Nick Lalonde, who contributed two each.

Cornwall incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Rangers' Rentopoulos stopped 29 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Gloucester incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
