Eric Veilleux Named Head Coach of Rampage

The Colorado Avalanhce and San Antonio Rampage announced yesterday morning that former Hawkesbury Hawks player and coach Eric Veilluex has been named Head Coach of the Rampage.

Veilleux, a native of Quebec City played with the Hawks during the 89-90 and 90-91 seasons before advancing to the QMJHL where he played two more seasons with the Laval Titan.  He would spend another eight seasons playing the game at the professional level before retiring and taking up the coaching side of the game.

During the 2002-03 season, Veilleux was handed the head coaching reigns with the Hawks where he would spend the next three seasons.  In 2004-05 he coached the Hawks to a league championship, then followed that up with a Fred Page Cup as they won the Eastern Canadian Championship and advanced to Nationals.

Just like he did when he was a player, Veilleux would next advance to the QMJHL, where he would spend the next eight seasons.  He would coach the Shawinigan Cataractes to a 2012 Memorial Cup Championship, their first in team history.

Last season he was the Head Coach of the ECHL's Norfolk Admirals.
