Cornwall vanquishes Brockville in shootout, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

 

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Cornwall Colts defeated the Brockville Braves in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The two teams needed six turns to complete the shootout.

 

Lawson MacDonald was all over the ice for Cornwall, as he had two goals in the win. MacDonald found the back of the net 3:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cornwall and again while 8:00 into the second to make the score 3-1 Cornwall.

Cornwall also got a goal from Tristan Elie as well. In addition, Cornwall received assists from Tristan Conrad, who had two and Sebastian Dirven, Dean Derouchie, Matthew Morin, and Parker Krol, who contributed one each.

Brockville's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

The Braves were helped by Ryan Markovic, who tallied one goal. Markovic scored on the power play 12:34 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Brockville had taken the advantage when the Colts' Brennan Markell got sent off for slashing. Ian Johnston provided the assist. Brockville additionally got points from Liam Folkes, who also registered one goal and one assist. Ryan Orgel also scored for Brockville. Other players who recorded assists for Brockville were Thomas Dunleavy and Jack Billings, who each chipped in one.

Liam Lascelle rejected 24 shots on goal for Cornwall. The Colts incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Henry Johnson made 24 saves for the Braves on 27 shots. Brockville totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. For the Braves, Kyle Orgel was ejected from the game.
