Ottawa rolls over Hawkesbury, 4-1

 

The Ottawa Senators had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the Hawkesbury Hawks.

 

Hawkesbury was stymied by Ottawa's netminder Ian Andriano, who stopped 32 shots during the victory. Andriano certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.97 entering the contest.

The Senators were sparked by Isaac Anderson, who had one goal. Anderson scored 17:33 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Ottawa. Mitchell Gibson picked up the assist.

Ottawa put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Hawks to score on any of their five power plays.

Others who scored for Ottawa included Johnathan Kovacevic, Kyle Hillick, and Jim Pearson, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa were Alexandre Way, Sean Rappleyea, Daniel Sarracco, Jared Leslie, Samuel Meisenheimer, Zacharie Car, and Jaren Burke, who each chipped in one.

Hawkesbury excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Hawks were held below their usual level of production. Hawkesbury puts an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game. The Senators were unable to stop the Hawks from sending pucks towards the net, and Hawkesbury eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

The Hawks were led by Reid Murphy, who scored the team's only goal. Murphy scored 8:10 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Ottawa. Brandon Barillaro assisted on the tally.

Ottawa incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Hawkesbury's Andrew Tucci stopped 21 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Hawks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
