Cornwall boosted by Nichol's play in net, beats Carleton Place 2-1

 

Brett Nichol had a standout game with 32 saves, and the Cornwall Colts beat the Carleton Place Canadians 2-1.

 

Cornwall was led by Tanner Spink, who tallied one goal. Spink scored 13:02 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Cornwall.

Grant Cooper also scored for Cornwall. In addition, Cornwall received assists from Nick Lalonde and Lawson MacDougall, who contributed one each.

Carleton Place's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Cornwall power plays. The Canadians were held below their usual level of production. Carleton Place averages 4.3 goals per game. The Canadians forced the Colts goalie Nichol to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Carleton Place was led by Shawn Kennedy, who scored the team's only goal. Kennedy scored 15:12 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Carleton Place. Will LeNeave assisted on the tally.

Cornwall incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. James Edwardson made 25 saves for the Canadians on 27 shots. Carleton Place incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
