CCHL Recap | Raiders, Nationals, Hawks, 73’s, Grads and Junior Senators Win Friday Night

Ottawa, ON – Friday night consisted of six games in the Central Canada Hockey LeagueThe Nepean Raiders traveled to the Brockville Braves, where the Raiders won 5-1. The Rockland Nationals visited the Smiths Falls Bears, for a Nationals 1-0 win. The Hawkesbury Hawks hosted the Pembroke Lumber Kings, after 60-minutes the Hawks won 4-2. The Kemptville 73’s hosted the Cornwall Colts, where the 73’s took the game 6-4. The Navan Grads traveled to the Renfrew Wolves, where the Grads won 8-3. The Ottawa Junior Senators visited the Carleton Place Canadians, where the Junior Senators won 3-1.

F | Nepean 5 Brockville 1

he first period saw Nicolas Papineau strike first for Nepean, setting the tone early. Brockville’s Anoushan Mugunthan managed to equalize in the second period. Nepean took control in the third period, with goals from Joshua Reid, Oliver Band, Brandon Reinisch, and Dylan Pollock, securing the lead. Nepean’s goaltender John Gedraitis made 25 saves Brockville’s goaltender Edouard Piche made 27 saves. 

F | Rockland 1 Smiths Falls 0

The first two periods remained scoreless as both teams battled fiercely on the ice. However, in the crucial third period, Anthony Hall of Rockland broke the deadlock with a decisive goal. Rockland’s goaltender, Benoit Forget, made 23 saves. Smiths Falls’ goaltender Dawson Labre made 16 saves. 

F | Pembroke 2 Hawkesbury 4

The first period remained scoreless as both teams fought for control. In the second period, Brayden Besner and Wyatt Schmidek scored for Hawkesbury, countered by Andrew Schmidt and Jayson Alegria for Pembroke, resulting in a tied game. However, Hawkesbury jumped ahead in the third period with goals from Wyatt Schmidek and Alex Fournier. Pembroke’s goaltender Kevin Jones made 38 saves, Dimitri Pelekos of Hawkesbury made 29 saves. 

F | Cornwall 4 Kemptville 6

The first period showcased Kemptville’s offensive prowess, with Nicholas Bennett, Tyler Melvin, and Tyler Wandall finding the back of the net, countered by Bradley Fraser for Cornwall. In the second period, Kemptville extended their lead with goals from Matthew O’Doherty and Nicholas Bennett, while Nathan Garnier responded for Cornwall. Cornwall rallied in the third period with goals from Luc Beliveau and Matheason Cameron, but Kemptville’s Tyler Melvin sealed the win with another goal. Cornwall’s goaltender Xander Miceli, made 24 saves, Kemptville’s Dax Easter made 25 saves. 

F | Navan 8 Renfrew 3

The first period saw goals from Gabriel Crete and Colin MacDougall for Navan, countered by Isaac Enright for Renfrew. Renfrew fought back in the second period with goals from Andrew Morton and Austin Fellinger, but Navan responded strongly with goals from Colin MacDougall and Gabriel Crete. The third period belonged to Navan, with Nicholas Paone scoring twice along with goals from Kiki Brown and Colin Holmes. Navan’s goaltender Jaeden Nelson madeh 42 saves. Renfrew’s goaltenders Nolan Lane and Curtis Fritschler combined for 30 saves. 

F | Ottawa 3 Carleton Place 1

The first period saw Brandon Paluszak netting a goal for Ottawa, setting the tone early. In the second period, Xavier Guillemette and Tristan Webb extended Ottawa’s lead with two more goals. Despite a valiant effort from Carleton Place in the third period, Kyle Kudrna managed to get one past Ottawa’s goaltender Connor Shibley. Shibley, however, made 31 saves. Carleton Place’s goaltender Ian Vandenberg, made 18 saves.
