CCHL Recap | 73’s, Bears and Hawks Win Saturday Evening

Ottawa, ON – Saturday night featured the Kemptville 73’s traveling to the Renfrew Wolves, where after 60-minutes the 73’s won 6-5. The Smiths Falls Bears visited the Rockland Nationals, where the Bears took the game 4-1. As well, the Hawkesbury Hawks traveled to the Ottawa Junior Senators, after 60-minutes the Hawks won 2-1

F | Kemptville 6 Renfrew 5

Gavin McDougall opened the scoring for Kemptville in the first period. Renfrew responded with a flurry of goals in the second, courtesy of Noah VomSchedit (2), Aaron Enright, Austin Fellinger, and Ethan Smith. Kemptville fought back with goals from Ryan Rutley, Grady Logue, and Matthew Montoni. The third period saw Kemptville’s Ryan Rutley and Tyler Melvin finding the back of the net to secure the win. Kemptville goaltender Jacob Biron made 43 saves, while Renfrew’s Nolan Lane made 20 saves. 

F | Smiths Falls 4 Rockland 1

Cameron O’Connell opened the scoring for Smiths Falls in the first period, countered by Kyle Leonard’s goal for Rockland in the second. However, Smiths Falls dominated the third period with goals from Tyson Parker, Travis Ouellette, and Shaymus Stevenson. Goaltender Dawson Labre made 22 saves. Rockland’s goaltender, Sebastian Resar made 27 saves. 

F | Hawkesbury 2 Ottawa 1

Justin Murdoch struck first for Ottawa in the opening period, but Alexis Billequey quickly responded for Hawkesbury to even the score. The intensity continued into the second period, but neither team managed to find the back of the net. In the decisive third period, Aidan Stubbings netted the game-winning goal for Hawkesbury. Dimitri Pelekos for Hawkesbury made 24 saves and Will Mizenko for Ottawa made 25 saves.
