CCHL Recap | Raiders, Nationals and Grads Win Friday Evening Games

Ottawa, ON – Three action packed games were in session this Friday evening in the Central Canada Hockey League. Nepean Raiders traveled to Brockville for a 4-0 win, Rockland Nationals traveled to Smiths Falls to win 5-4 and the Navan Grads traveled to Carleton Place for a 5-2 win.

F | Nepean 4 Brockville 0

Nepean dominated with a 4-0 win over Brockville. In the 1st period, Peter Freel scored for Nepean, setting the tone. The 2nd period saw Curtiss Sturgeon and Nicolas Papineau extending the lead. Nepean sealed the victory in the 3rd period with Nolan DeFazio finding the net. Impressive goaltending by Brady McEwan, who made 37 crucial saves, secured the shutout. On the other end, Brockville’s Zane Spaniol put up a solid effort with 30 saves.

F | Rockland 5 Smiths Falls 4

Rockland edged out Smiths Falls 5-4 in a thrilling contest. The 1st period featured a goal from Julien Wasmer for Smiths Falls. Rockland dominated the 2nd period, with Mathieu Paquin scoring twice, and Anthony Hall, Kellen Dostaler, and Jacob Charron also finding the net. In a heated match, Smiths Falls responded with goals from Wasmer, Matthew Dimaline, and Jackson Heron. The 3rd period remained scoreless. Goaltenders Benoit Forget (Rockland) made 33 saves, while Dawson Labre (Smiths Falls) made 18 saves, later replaced by Evan Malloy with 9 saves.

F | Navan 5 Carleton Place 2

 Navan emerged victorious, beating Carleton Place 5-2. The 1st period saw goals from Caton Ryan (Carleton Place) and Kiki Brown (Navan). In the 2nd, Navan took control with goals by Matthew Mazzotta and Noah Carpenter, countered by Bill Gourgon for Carleton Place. The 3rd period solidified Navan’s win, courtesy of Danny Markham and Devon Savignac. Goaltender Jaeden Nelson (Navan) stood strong with 32 saves, while Jackson Pundyk (Carleton Place) made 27 saves in a hard-fought match.
