CCHL Recap | Nationals, Bears, 73’s and Grads Win Friday Evening Matchups

Ottawa, ON – Four action packed games took place in the Central Canada Hockey League this Friday evening. The Rockland Nationals traveled to visit the Brockville Braves, after 60-minutes the Nationals won 8-1. The Smiths Falls Bears hosted the Pembroke Lumber Kings, the game went to a shootout where the Bears won 5-4. The Kemptville 73’s visited the Hawkesbury Hawks, where the 73’s won 1-0. The Navan Grads hosted the Cornwall Colts, the Grads won 3-1.

F | Rockland 8 Brockville 1

The 1st period started with Rockland goals from Xavier Laurent, Anthony Hall, Trystan-Felix Tremblay, and Mathis Bedard, countered only by Kaleb MacAulay’s lone goal for Brockville. In the 2nd period, Rockland continued their scoring spree with goals from Jaden Davis and Alex Kelloway. The 3rd period saw Anthony Hall and Samuel Dumont adding to Rockland’s tally. The goaltending duel featured a stellar performance from Rockland’s Benoit Forget, who made 23 saves. On the other side, Brockville’s Dustin Riff started with 7 saves but was replaced by Zane Spaniol, who made 19 saves.

F | Pembroke 4 Smiths Falls 5 (SO)

The 1st period saw Jackson Heron opening the scoring for Smiths Falls. In the 2nd period, Smiths Falls continued with goals from Heron, Jack Paquette, and Owen Watson, countered by Pembroke’s Cam Hicklin and Sutton Murray. The 3rd period intensified as Pembroke’s Cam Hicklin and Eric Barnard (with a late goal) evened the score. Overtime remained goalless, leading to a shootout where Travis Ouellette secured the win for Smiths Falls. Goaltender Jacob Morgan of Pembroke made 33 saves. Smiths Falls’ Nikolas Trakakis stopped 17 shots.

F | Kemptville 1 Hawkesbury 0

The 1st period was scoreless. It was in the 2nd period that Kemptville’s Grady Logue broke the deadlock, netting the lone goal of the game. The 3rd period saw no additional scoring. Kemptville’s goaltender Dax Easter made 39 saves. On the other end, Hawkesbury’s Dimitri Pelekos made 25 saves,

F | Cornwall 1 Navan 3

The 1st period saw Noah Carpenter netting the opening goal for Navan. The 2nd period was scoreless. In the 3rd period, Navan extended their lead with goals from Colin MacDougall and Gabriel Crete. With a goal from Nathan Garnier for Cornwall. Cornwall’s goaltender Donald Hickey made 42 saves. Navan’s Braxton Castagno made 30 saves.
