CCHL Recap | Raiders, Canadians, Hawks and Junior Senators Win Saturday Evening

Ottawa, ON – Saturday night in the Central Canada Hockey League featured four evening games. The Nepean Raiders visited the Renfrew Wolves, where after 60-minutes the Raiders won 6-3. The Carleton Place Canadians hosted the Pembroke Lumber Kings, after 60-minutes the Canadians won 4-2. The Hawkesbury Hawks hosted the Brockville Braves, where the Hawks won 4-2. The Ottawa Junior Senators hosted the Kemptville 73’s, for a Junior Senators 2-1 win.

F | Nepean 6 Renfrew 3

The 1st period saw Nepean’s Oliver Band, Kyle Slingerland, and Curtiss Sturgeon finding the net. The 2nd period saw no scoring. During the third, Nepean continued with goals from Nick Houben, Nolan DeFazio, and another from Oliver Band. Renfrew fought back with goals by Jace Letourneau, Andrew Morton, and Mathieu Paquin. Nepean’s goaltender Jack Gedraitis made 49 saves, while Renfrew’s Viacheslav Gordeichuk stopped 14 shots.

F | Pembroke 2 Carleton Place 4

he 1st period was scoreless, building anticipation for the action-packed 2nd period. Carleton Place’s Will Soloway and Caton Ryan found the back of the net, while Vital Dinis scored for Pembroke. The intensity continued into the 3rd period, with Easton Penny scoring for Pembroke and Carleton Place responding with goals from Caton Ryan and Carter Pilon. Pembroke’s goaltender Kevin Jones made 27 saves and Carleton Place’s Ian Vandenberg stopping 28 shots. 

F | Brockville 2 Hawkesbury 4

The 1st period was scoreless. During the 2nd period Anoushan Mugunthan netted one for Brockville, and Remi Gagne responded for Hawkesbury. Brockville’s Kimani Eccleston added a goal in the 3rd period, but Hawkesbury answered with three more goals from Alexis Billequey, Alexis Minville, and Remi Gagne, securing the lead. Brockville’s goaltender Edouard Piche made 44 saves, while Hawkesbury’s Caleb Chabot stood strong with 22 saves.

F | Kemptville 1 Ottawa 2

The 1st period saw Emile Trottier scoring for Kemptville. In the 2nd period, Ben Albright of Ottawa responded with a goal, levelling the score. The intensity continued into the 3rd period, where Ottawa’s Justin Murdoch netted the final goal. Kemptville’s goaltender Jacob Biron made 24 saves and Ottawa’s Connor Shibley turned away 29 shots.
