CCHL Recap | Canadians, Bears and Hawks Take Saturday Night Wins

Ottawa, ON – Three games in the Central Canada Hockey League took place Saturday evening. The Carleton Place Canadians hosted the Nepean Raiders and won 6-3. Smiths Falls Bears took a trip to see the Renfrew Wolves to win 4-0, with newly acquired goaltender Dax Easter. The Hawkesbury Hawks visited the Ottawa Junior Senators and shutout 3-0.

The 1st period saw goals from Caton Ryan, Jace Benvie, and Owen Colter for Carleton Place, while Owen Hardy and Nicolas Papineau responded for Nepean. The 2nd period remained scoreless, but Carleton Place surged in the 3rd with goals from Will Soloway, Caton Ryan, and Bill Gourgon, sealing the win. Dylan Pollock for Nepean got a third period goal. Nepean goaltender John Gedraitis made 27 saves, while Carleton Place’s Ian Vandenberg stopped 20 shots.

F | Smiths Falls 4 Renfrew 0

In the 1st period, Alec Hamady and Kyle Dagg scored for Smiths Falls, followed by Tyson Parker in the 2nd and Davis Hails in the 3rd. Smiths Falls’ new goaltender, Dax Easter, earned a shutout with 31 saves, while Renfrew’s Nolan Lane made 33 saves.

Alex Fournier netting two 1st-period goals and another in the 2nd. Goaltender Dimitri Pelekos made 24 saves for Hawkesbury, while Ottawa’s Connor Shibley stopped 25 shots.
