Carleton Place uses shootout to best Hawkesbury, 3-2 (2-1 SO)

 

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Carleton Place Canadians defeated the Hawkesbury Hawks in a shootout 3-2 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured 10 attempts between both teams. Hawkesbury got a shootout goal from Joe Smith. Carleton Place also got a shootout goal from Jordan Larson.

 

The Canadians overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Carleton Place trailed 2-1 after a goal by the Hawks' Brett Everson at 18:06 in the second period. The Canadians tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Bryce VanHorn at 4:07 in the third period.

VanHorn had a great game for Carleton Place, netting two goals.

The Canadians excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Hawkesbury was unable to stop Carleton Place from sending pucks towards the net, and the Canadians eventually piled up 44 shots on goal.

More assists for Carleton Place came via Owen Grant, Alex Robinson, and Nicolas Carrier, who contributed one each.

The Hawks' offense rang up 33 shots on Carleton Place's net.

Hawkesbury was helped by Chris Smith, who had one goal. Smith scored 18:28 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hawkesbury. Johnathan Kovacevic assisted on the tally. In addition, Hawkesbury received assists from Damien Charette, who had one.

Colton Point made 31 saves for the Canadians on 33 shots. Carleton Place incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Cole Skinner recorded 41 saves for the Hawks. Hawkesbury incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
