Carleton Place blows out Brockville, 5-1

 

The Carleton Place Canadians had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the Brockville Braves.

 

After the loss made the series score 3-0 in the best of seven series, Brockville faces elimination next time out.

Carleton Place's Colton Point was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 25 saves and let only one puck past him. Despite the solid performance, Point will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 0.95 entering the contest.

The Canadians were led by Nicolas Carrier, who registered one goal. Carrier scored 1:40 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Carleton Place. Braedyn Asselstine picked up the assist.

Carleton Place forced Braves' netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, launching 39 shots and forcing 34 saves. Henry Johnson made 31 stops and Michael Cerasuolo made three.

Carleton Place additionally got points from Owen Grant, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Geoff Kitt, who also tallied two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Carleton Place also got a goal from Brett Murray as well. Other players who recorded assists for Carleton Place were Maxime StPierre, who had two and Jacob Moreau, Alex Robinson, and Jordan Larson, who contributed one each.

The Braves' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Carleton Place power plays.

Brockville was led by Vincenzo Renda, who scored the team's only goal. Renda scored on the power play 5:28 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Carleton Place. The Braves had taken the advantage when the Canadians' Will LeNeave got sent off for head contact. Andrew Jarvis assisted on the tally.

Carleton Place incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Brockville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
