Hawkesbury stifles Ottawa's comeback, gains 4-2 victory

 

The Hawkesbury Hawks, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by the Ottawa Senators and clinched a 4-2 victory.

Hawkesbury led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Hawks' Jonathan Cyr scored at 17:16 in the second period to put Hawkesbury up 3-0.

 

With the win, the Hawks evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

Hawkesbury's penalty kill excelled, as the Hawks gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Hawkesbury kept Ottawa's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ian Andriano made 30 saves on 34 shots.

The Hawks were helped by Bruno Cheff, who grabbed one goal. Cheff scored 19:18 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Hawkesbury. Jacob Drobczyk provided the assist. Hawkesbury additionally got points from Cyr, who also had one goal and one assist. Hawkesbury also had goals scored by Adriano Leone and Ryan Bunka, who each put in one. More assists for Hawkesbury came via Damien Charette, Johnathan Kovacevic, Joe Smith, and Jonathan Tecce, who each chipped in one.

The Senators were helped by Luke McCaw, who registered one goal. McCaw scored 19:21 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Hawkesbury. Sean Rappleyea picked up the assist.
