Busschaert leads Smiths Falls over Gloucester, 6-3

 

Behind a great game by Cole Busschaert, who had one goal and two assists, the Smiths Falls Bears defeated the Gloucester Rangers, 6-3.

Busschaert got on the board by slotting home a goal 10:55 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Smiths Falls. Sander Boroczky provided the assist.

 

In the losing effort, Gloucester was paced by Jordan Renaud, who racked up two goals. Renaud scored the first of his two goals at 8:18 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Smiths Falls. Boroczky picked up the assist. Renaud's next tally made the score 5-3 Smiths Falls with 6:07 left in the third period. Boroczky provided the assist.

Smiths Falls surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Bears have scored at the pace of 3.8 goals per game during the current campaign.

Others who scored for Smiths Falls included Nicolas Coates, who had two and Sterling Bray, Joey Rutkowski, and Anthony DiPlacido, who each put in one. In addition, Smiths Falls received assists from Tristan Whynot, Caleb Perez, Broydon Stufko, Chris Karabassis, and Matthew Kenney, who each chipped in one and Josh Leblanc and Michael McKenney, who contributed two each.

Paul Vella also scored for Gloucester. Other players who recorded assists for Gloucester were Shane McCrank, who had two and Salim Mahi-Beaudry and Vincent Guimond, who each chipped in one.

Dyllan Lubbesmeyer rejected 15 shots on goal for Smiths Falls. The Bears incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Cedric Hansen recorded 24 saves for the Rangers. Gloucester incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. For the Rangers, Nicholas Ngwafusi was ejected from the game.
