Brockville survives Nepean comeback, wins 3-1

 

The Nepean Raiders tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Brockville Braves held on for a 3-1 victory.

A goal by Ian Johnston put Brockville up 3-0 in the first period, but Nepean pulled to within two on Evan Lindquist's tally 2:25 into the third period.

 

The Braves were sparked by Kyle Orgel, who finished with one goal. Orgel scored 6:47 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Brockville. Alexander Sifton provided the assist.

Jack Gill also scored for Brockville. More assists for Brockville came via Jack Billings, Michael Murray, Declan Hilton, Neil Robinson, and Andrew Jarvis, who contributed one each.

The Raiders were often in penalty trouble, totaling five minors and two majors for 20 minutes in penalty time. Nepean surpassed its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. The Raiders stifled Brockville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

In addition, Nepean received assists from Blake Dalton and Derek Varrin, who each chipped in one.

Michael Cerasuolo made 23 saves for the Braves on 24 shots. Brockville totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 0-for-6 on the power play. For the Braves, Jarvis was ejected from the game. Francis Marotte recorded 26 saves for Nepean. The Raiders registered one goal on two power play opportunities. For Nepean, Jody Sullivan and Ugo Roik were ejected from the contest.
