Tugnutt nets hat trick, leads Kemptville to 7-4 win over Gloucester

 

Matt Tugnutt netted a hat trick to lead the Kemptville 73s over the Gloucester Rangers, 7-4.

Tugnutt got on the scoresheet 5:35 into the second period. He then added goals at 17:39 into the second and at 9:19 into the third.

 

Kemptville stifled Gloucester's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The 73s forced the Rangers goalie Doug Johnston to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots. Kemptville bested its season scoring average. The 73s average 3.3 goals per game.

Kemptville additionally got points from Owen Guy, who also grabbed one goal and three assists, Jason Tackett, who also had one goal and three assists, and Victor Tracy, who also registered one goal and one assist. Tyson Kirkby also scored for Kemptville. More assists for Kemptville came via Dean Kiriacou and Bobby Dow, who contributed one each.

Gloucester surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Rangers average 1.7 goal per contest.

Gloucester was helped by Dan Martin, who finished with one goal. Martin scored 4:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Gloucester. Drew Shields picked up the assist. Gloucester also got points from Vincent Guimond, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Matt Adams, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Gloucester also got a goal from Zachary Towns as well. In addition, Gloucester received assists from Jacob Kendrick and Salim Mahi-Beaudry, who each chipped in one.

Kemptville's Nicholas Hodgins stopped 21 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The 73s incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Johnston rejected 36 shots on goal for the Rangers. Gloucester incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
