TRIO OF BEARS MAKE NCAA COMMITMENTS

The Central Canada Hockey League & Smiths Falls Bears are pleased to announce that Joey Rutkowski, Sterling Bray, and Caleb Perez have all made commitments to NCAA Division 3 programs for the 2016-17 school year.

Joey Rutkowski – Oswego State University

The Rome, NY native has verbally committed to join the Oswego State Lakers after finishing third in defenseman scoring for the Bears with 7 goals and 24 points in just 39 games.  Before his time with the Bears, the 6-0, 170 lb two-way defenseman skated with the OJHL’s Kingston Voyageurs for two seasons.

Sterling Bray – Hamilton College

The 18-year old Marietta, GA native had a successful lone season with the Bears where he posted 16 goals and 36 points in 62 games.  He was also tied for tops on the team with 5 game-winning goals with Cole Busschaert.  Strong skating and a quick accurate shot helped him be a force on the rush.  He has signed a National Letter of Intent to join Hamilton College in Clinton, New York for the 2016-17 school year.

Caleb Perez – Bowdoin College

The 19-year old Loudonville, NY native has signed a National Letter of Intent to join Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine for the 2016-17 school year.  The defensive defenseman totaled 1 goal and 5 points in 39 games with the Bears this season.  The offensive numbers may never come but he is a reliable and consistent defenseman who doesn’t make mistakes and won’t hurt his team.
