Thursday Recap: Jr. Sens roll, Lasers earn key win

Ottawa 5, Cornwall 0

A three-point effort from Pierre-Luc Veillette (1G, 2A) paced the Ottawa Jr. Senators, who dominated the Cornwall Colts en route to a 5-0 road win at the Ed Lumley Arena on Thursday night.

The Jr. Sens (16-3-2) also had multi-point efforts from Chiwetin Blacksmith (1G, 1A) and Owen Guy (1G, 1) — Francis Boisvert pitched a 33-save shutout between the Ottawa pipes.

The Colts (10-10-2) had a quiet night on the boxscore, with defenceman Alexander Monteleone posting an eye-popping 19 penalty minutes.

Kanata 3, Brockville 2

Ethan Manderville scored the third-period winner as the Kanata Lasers edged the visiting Brockville Braves 3-2 in a penalty-filled affair.

Will Larsen and Trevor Poeze also netted for the Lasers (9-9-3), while defencemen Theo Citrullo and Andrew Jarvis — the latter playing his 200th career CCHL game — scored in the loss for Brockville (11-10-0).

Myles Hektor stopped 32 of 34 shots en route to the win for Kanata.
