Sunday Recap: Theodore, Colts dominate in Kemptville

Cornwall 7, Kemptville 1

Chris Theodore claimed sole possession of the CCHL scoring lead with a hat-trick on Sunday in Kemptville, where his Colts dominated the Kemptville 73’s 7-1.

Cam Hebert and Keegan Mulhearn also had multi-point games in the win for Cornwall (5-3-0), while Neal Samanski had the lone goal in the loss for last-place Kemptville (2-7-0).

Veteran goaltender Liam Lascelle earned the win with 35 saves between the pipes for the visitors.

The win was the third in the last four outings for Ian MacInnis’s Colts.

Ottawa 3, Nepean 1

Pierre-Luc Veillette continued his red-hot form for Marty Dagenais’s Ottawa Jr. Sens, who downed the Nepean Raiders 3-1 in a cross-town rivalry contest at the Nepean Sportsplex.

Chiwetin Blacksmith had the other goal in the win for OJS (7-2-0), which finished the weekend a single point out of first place, while Malcolm Arseneau had the only Nepean (2-5-0) marker on the afternoon.

With Francois Boisvert injured, Gab Carriere started for the Jr. Sens and earned the win with 19 saves on 20 shots.

Goaltender Liam Souliere, signed earlier in the day by the Raiders, was saddled with the loss in his debut after allowing three goals on 30 shots.

Navan 4, Smiths Falls 1

The Navan Grads returned to the win column in a big way with a 4-1 win over the visiting Smiths Falls Bears on Sunday afternoon.

Alex Way (1G/2A), Keenan Reynolds (1G/2A), Curtis Fabbro (1G/1A) and Simon Besner (1G/1A) all had multi-point days for Tony Iob’s Grads (3-6-0), while Brian Bygrave scored for the Bears (4-5-0).

Regular starter Brad Dobson remains shelved for the Bears; Kyle Renaud allowed four goals on 26 shots in taking the loss.

Carleton Place 4, Brockville 2

Jason Clarke’s Canadians returned to the win column on home ice Sunday with a 4-2 win over the Brockville Braves.

Sean Ross (1G/1A) and Jack Clark (1G/1A) led the way offensively for first-place Carleton Place (7-1-1), while Fred Allaire had a two-point day in the loss for Brockville (5-6-0).

Mike Leach picked up the win in net for CP with a 26-save performance, while Brockville ‘tender Yaniv Perets allowed four goals on 17 shots.

Pembroke 6, Kanata 5 (OT)

The Pembroke Lumber Kings erased two third-period deficits to down the Kanata Lasers 6-5 in overtime in Sunday’s nightcap.

Connor Warnholtz scored the OT winner for the Lumber Kings (6-3-0) moments after a big-time save from goaltender Nick Manousos.

Jack Quinn had a pair of goals in the defeat for Kanata (4-5-1).
