Hawkesbury to play in Glengarry on Sept. 29

Hawkesbury, Ont. —

The Hawkesbury Hawks announced in a press release Monday morning that their Sept. 29 home game against the Carleton Place Canadians has been moved to the Glengarry Arena in Alexandria, Ont.

Hawkesbury’s home arena — the Robert Hartley Sports Complex — has been experiencing serious fog issues which have directly caused the cancellation of two Hawks home games and local minor-hockey tryouts.

“The Hawks would like to apologize to our local fanbase for the inconvenience this temporary move may cause, but rest assured, with the help of the municipality, we will be back at the Hawks’ Nest in no time,” the team said in the statement. “Local hockey fans, who get their fill of Junior Hockey thanks to the Alexandria Glens of the CCHL2, will have a unique opportunity to see Junior-A hockey in their hometown, and given the visit of the defending Bogart Cup champion Canadians, fans will be in for a treat.”

Until the issues with the RHSC’s humidification system are resolved, the Hawks will temporarily move to Alexandria.

Puckdrop is slated for 8 p.m. against the Canadians.
