Sunday Recap: Here Comes Kemptville

Kemptville 5, Brockville 4

A hat-trick from newly-minted assistant captain Ashton Fry led the hometown Kemptville 73’s to a 5-4 win over the Brockville Braves on #PinkTheRink day in Kemptville.

With a freshly-pressed “C” on his chest, Liam Hunter tallied a pair of assists in the win for Kemptville (5-16-1), which chased Braves (12-11-0) starter Nick Wiencek from the net en route to its second-straight win.

Winger Jacob Thousand added a goal and assist for the 73’s, who got a 32-save effort out of goaltender Nick Bond.

Navan 2, Rockland 1

The Navan Grads ground their way to a 2-1 victory over the visiting Rockland Nationals on Sunday afternoon at the Navan Memorial Centre.

Keenan Reynolds scored a highlight-reel game-winning goal at 11:13 of the second period for the Grads (6-14-0), who were helped to the win by a strong 28-save performance by goaltender Seth Carter.

Zach Roy took the loss between the pipes for Rockland (11-8-2), which has now dropped four-straight games.

Carleton Place 4, Nepean 1

The Carleton Place Canadians earned their 11th-straight win on Sunday afternoon, downing the Raiders 4-1 at the Nepean Sportsplex.

Princeton-commit Jeremie Forget stopped 33 of 34 shots in the win for Carleton Place (20-2-1), which became the first CCHL team to the 20-win mark in 2017-18, while blueliner Tim Theocharidis continued his point-per-game form with a pair of assists.

Jordan Renaud had the lone goal in the loss for Nepean (7-12-0), which ended October with four losses in its final five games after a bright start to the month.

Pembroke 5, Hawkesbury 3

A three-point day for Brendan Browne (1G, 2A) led the way for the Pembroke Lumber Kings as they edged the visiting Hawkesbury Hawks by a 5-3 decision.

Jacob Kamps, Matthew Barnaby and Mason Emoff also had multi-point performances in the win for Dale McTavish’s Pembroke (12-8-0) club, which chased Hawkesbury starter Chris Cuglietta from the net early in the second period.

Defenceman Colin Stevens had a goal and assist in the defeat for Rick Dorval’s Hawks (12-6-0); Matt Gasuik added a pair of assists.
