Smiths Falls rolls over Carleton Place, 5-2

 

The Carleton Place Canadians had trouble finding ways to stop the Smiths Falls Bears, which beat Canadians, 5-2.

 

Sterling Bray was all over the ice for Smiths Falls, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Bray scored the first of his two goals at 8:42 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Smiths Falls. John Curran picked up the assist. Bray's next tally made the score 4-1 Smiths Falls with 2:15 left in the second period. Josh Leblanc provided the assist.

The Bears' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Carleton Place power plays. Smiths Falls' offense rang up 38 shots on Carleton Place's net.

Smiths Falls additionally got points from Leblanc, who also registered two goals and one assist. Michael McKenney also scored for Smiths Falls. In addition, Smiths Falls received assists from Darius Gibson, Brett Garvey, Tyler Creagh, and Cole Busschaert, who each chipped in one.

The Canadians stifled the Bears' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Carleton Place was led by Brett Murray, who grabbed one goal. Murray scored 4:36 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Carleton Place also got a goal from Jordan Larson as well. More assists for Carleton Place came via Lucas Batt and Maxime StPierre, who contributed one each.

Evan DeBrouwer rejected 27 shots on goal for Smiths Falls. The Bears incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Adrian Clark made 33 saves for the Canadians on 38 shots. Carleton Place incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
