Pembroke boosted by Green's play in net, beats Kemptville 2-1

 

The Pembroke Lumber Kings relied on the sparkling performance of Sean Green in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Kemptville 73s.

 

Pembroke was led by Ben VanOoteghem, who had one goal. VanOoteghem scored 19:37 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Pembroke. Fraser Turner assisted on the tally.

The Lumber Kings forced Kemptville goalie Nicholas Hodgins to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Ryan Casselman also scored for Pembroke. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Jesse Blais, Cale List, and Stephen Cooney, who contributed one each.

The 73s put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Pembroke to score on any of its four power plays. Kemptville's offense operated below its season average. The 73s average 3.5 goals per game.

Kemptville was led by Jason Tackett, who scored the team's only goal. Tackett scored on the power play 18:57 into the second period to make the score 1-1. A holding penalty on Justin Felhaber had put the 73s on the power play. Dean Kiriacou provided the assist.

Green rejected 27 shots on goal for the Lumber Kings. Pembroke incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Nicholas Hodgins made 35 saves for Kemptville on 37 shots. The 73s incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
