The Gloucester Rangers tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Smiths Falls Bears held on for a 4-2 victory.
Smiths Falls made the score 4-1 on a goal by Corey Caruso at 5:01 in the third period, and Gloucester got as close as 4-2 when Paul Vella scored 14:02 into the third period.
The Bears' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Gloucester power plays. The Rangers were unable to stop Smiths Falls from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bears eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.
Smiths Falls was helped by Michael McKenney, who racked up one goal and one assist. McKenney scored 6:51 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Smiths Falls. Matthew Kenney picked up the assist. Smiths Falls additionally got points from Kenney, who also had one goal and one assist. Smiths Falls also got a goal from Broydon Stufko as well.
