Showcase Recap | A Wrap on Day One of The Fall Showcase

Ottawa, ON – Sunday kicked off the first day of three of our Fall Showcase 2023. On day one; Kemptville, Smiths Falls, Cornwall, Rockland, Carleton Place and Navan get the first wins under their belt. Day two happens tomorrow.

F | Kemptville 6 Ottawa 1

Kemptville triumphed over Ottawa with a resounding 6-1 victory. The first period saw Grady Logue of Kemptville open the scoring with an early goal, setting the tone for the game.

In the second period, Kemptville extended their lead with goals from Ty Whyte, Sydney Loreto, and another from Ty Whyte, while Ottawa managed to find the back of the net once through Jordan Graham. Kemptville continued their offensive onslaught in the third period, with goals from Tanner Fennell and Ty Whyte, completing his hat-trick.

Kemptville’s Jacob Biron stood tall in the crease, making 28 saves and thwarting Ottawa’s scoring attempts. Meanwhile, Ottawa’s Hayden Duncan made 26 saves but faced relentless pressure from Kemptville’s offensive firepower.

This game showcased Kemptville’s offensive prowess and solid goaltending, securing a decisive win over Ottawa and earning them a well-deserved 6-1 victory.

F | Smiths Falls 3 Hawkesbury 2

Smiths Falls narrowly edged out Hawkesbury with a final score of 3-2. The game got off to an exciting start in the first period, with Alec Hamady of Smiths Falls and David Taylor of Hawkesbury each finding the back of the net.

The second period saw Remi Gelinas of Hawkesbury break the tie, giving his team the lead. However, Smiths Falls rallied in the third period, with Matthew Dimalime and Alex McIntosh scoring crucial goals to regain control of the game.

Smiths Falls’ goaltender, Dawson Labre, was outstanding between the pipes, making 24 key saves to help secure the victory. On the other side, Hawkesbury’s Dimitri Pelekos put on a valiant effort, making an impressive 37 saves in a bid to keep his team in the game.

In the end, Smiths Falls’ strong third-period comeback and Labre’s solid goaltending were the difference-makers, as they secured a hard-fought 3-2 win over Hawkesbury.

F | Cornwall 4 Renfrew 1

Cornwall emerged victorious with a final score of 4-1 against Renfrew. The first period set the tone for the match, with Ethan Montroy and Etienne Lessard of Cornwall both finding the back of the net, while Jace Letourneau responded with a goal for Renfrew.

The second period remained scoreless, as both goaltenders, Cornwall’s Donald Hickey and Renfrew’s Viacheslav Gordeichuk, showcased their skills with remarkable saves, keeping their respective teams in the game.

The third period proved pivotal for Cornwall, as Fernand-Olivier Perron and Alexis Hilaire Pinot added two more goals to secure their lead. Despite a strong effort by Renfrew, they couldn’t find a way past Hickey, who made 25 crucial saves.

Gordeichuk in the Renfrew net displayed remarkable resilience, making 35 saves, but Cornwall’s offensive firepower ultimately prevailed.

In the end, Cornwall’s well-rounded performance and Hickey’s stellar goaltending sealed a 4-1 victory, solidifying their dominance in the game.

F | Rockland 4 Brockville 0

Rockland delivered a dominant performance, securing a 4-0 victory over Brockville in a game marked by stellar goaltending and precise offensive execution.

The first period saw Liam Carroll of Rockland break the ice with a well-placed goal. In the second period, Rockland continued their offensive onslaught, with Trystan-Felix Tremblay, Josh O’Connor, and Jaden Davis each finding the back of the net.

Rockland’s Patrick Charette was a wall in goal, earning a shutout with 16 saves and thwarting all of Brockville’s scoring attempts. On the opposing side, Zane Spaniol started strong for Brockville, making 16 saves before Dax Easter took over and made 6 saves.

The third period remained scoreless, but Rockland’s lead was insurmountable, thanks to their solid defense and Charette’s remarkable performance.

In the end, Rockland’s balanced offensive attack and Charette’s shutout in goal secured a decisive 4-0 win over Brockville, showcasing their dominance on the ice.

F | Carleton Place 2 Pembroke 1 (OT)

Carleton Place emerged victorious with a 2-1 overtime win against Pembroke. The first period saw no scoring as both teams battled fiercely for control.

In the second period, Gianluca Guarnieri of Pembroke managed to break the deadlock with a well-placed goal. The game remained tight, with the tension building in the third period. Carleton Place’s Tristan Boudreau rose to the occasion, equalizing the score.

The game was eventually decided in overtime when Masen Culley of Carleton Place came through with the game-winning goal, sealing their triumph.

Carleton Place’s goaltender, Ty Fergusan, played a pivotal role in the victory, making 24 crucial saves throughout the game. On the other end, Pembroke’s Kevin Jones was exceptional, making an impressive 33 saves, keeping his team in contention.

Ultimately, Carleton Place’s resilience and Culley’s clutch performance secured the 2-1 overtime win, showcasing their determination and ability to seize victory in a hard-fought battle.

F | Nepean 1 Navan 5

Navan skated to a commanding 5-1 victory over Nepean. The first period saw no scoring, but it was the second period where Navan’s offense exploded. Colin Holmes, Noah Carpenter, Nathan Hargest, and Cristobal Told all found the back of the net, leaving Nepean struggling to keep up.

The third period continued to favor Navan, with Colin MacDougall adding to their lead, while Marty Magaletta managed to get one back for Nepean.

Nepean’s goaltender, John Gedraitis, put on a valiant performance, making an impressive 43 saves to keep his team in the game. On the other side, Navan’s Nikolas Trakakis started strong, making one save, and Jaeden Nelson came in later to secure the win with 18 saves.

Navan’s well-distributed scoring and solid goaltending were the difference-makers in this game, leading to a decisive 5-1 victory over Nepean.
