Release | Hawks Rick Dorval named CCHL Head Coach & General Manager of the Year

Ottawa, ON – The Central Canada Hockey League is pleased to announce that Rick Dorval from the Hawkesbury Hawks has been named 2021-22 Coach and General Manager of the Year.

Dorval, 38, joined the Hawks as their Head Coach in 2014-15 after moving on from his Head Coach/General Manager position with the Ottawa Junior Senators. While with Ottawa, Dorval was named Coach of the Year during the 2012-13 campaign.

He would add the General Manager tag with the Hawks beginning in 2016-17.

This season, he has helped lead the Hawks to an impressive 36-12-3-2 record on the ice, good enough for 2nd among all CCHL teams. Under Dorval, the Hawks boast a league-leading PP% at 21.4% and a league-best PK% at 88.5%.

He has made some very impressive moves in the manager seat, recruiting players such as Jakson Kirk, Rylee Hlusiak, and Willyam Gendron. On top of that, he has made some solid acquisitions via trade on the season, acquiring both Kerfalla Toure and Djibril Toure from within the league, and also acquiring offensive dynamo Thomas Cusson and goaltender Matthew Tovell from outside of the league.

The Hawks have secured their 2nd place seed and are not waiting to find out who their first round opponent will be in the 2021-22 Bogart Cup Playoffs which begin April 12th.
