Pembroke rolls over Kanata, 6-1

 

The Pembroke Lumber Kings were firing on all cylinders against the Kanata Lasers, and when the final buzzer sounded Lumber Kings emerged with a 6-1 win.

 

Pembroke was led by Alex Gilmour, who finished with one goal. Gilmour scored 11:53 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Pembroke. Derek Varrin picked up the assist.

The Lumber Kings forced Lasers' goalies to work between the pipes, firing 31 shots and forcing 25 saves. Alex Butler made 20 stops and Jonathan Peacock made five. Pembroke's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Kanata power plays. The Lumber Kings bested their season scoring average. Pembroke has scored at the pace of 3.1 goals per game during the current campaign.

Pembroke also got points from Brandon Zullo, who also had one goal and one assist, Patrick Kyte, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Brett Horn, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Pembroke included Chris Minns and Kris Lalonde, who scored one goal each. More assists for Pembroke came via Justin Felhaber, who had two and Cale List, Nicolas Vlahos, Tyler ONeill, and Ben VanOoteghem, who contributed one each.

Kanata was led by Will Gauthier, who scored the team's only goal. Gauthier scored 13:39 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Pembroke. Tyler Young provided the assist.

Gabe Mollot-Hill rejected 21 shots on goal for the Lumber Kings. Pembroke incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. For the Lumber Kings, ONeill was ejected from the game. The Lasers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
