Pembroke holds on for 3-2 win against Nepean

 

The Nepean Raiders tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Pembroke Lumber Kings held on for a 3-2 victory.

A goal by Alex Gilmour put Pembroke up 3-0 in the third period, but Nepean pulled to within one on Samuel Meisenheimer's tally 16:30 into the third period.

 

Gilmour had two goals and one assist to lead the Lumber Kings. Gilmour scored the first of his two goals at 8:34 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Pembroke. Derek Varrin assisted on the tally. Gilmour's next tally made the score 3-0 Pembroke with 12:40 left in the third period. Patrick Kyte picked up the assist.

The Raiders were unable to stop Pembroke from sending pucks towards the net, and the Lumber Kings eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Pembroke additionally got points from Kyte, who also had one goal and one assist.

Nepean stifled Pembroke's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Kari Belec also scored for Nepean. In addition, Nepean received assists from Bailey Brant, Mike Finger, Rory Garlasco, and Martin Lavallee, who contributed one each.

Boyd Diclemente made 25 saves for the Lumber Kings on 27 shots. Pembroke totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play. The Lumber Kings ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Varrin was ejected from the game. Francis Marotte rejected 32 shots on goal for the Raiders. Nepean totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. For the Raiders, Blake Dalton was ejected from the game.
