Ottawa rolls over Gloucester, 10-1

 

The Gloucester Rangers had trouble finding ways to stop the Ottawa Senators, which beat Rangers, 10-1.

 

Ottawa got the win on the strength of a great game by Luke McCaw, who had one goal and two assists. McCaw scored 52 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Ottawa. Brett Van Stralen picked up the assist.

The Senators forced Gloucester's netminders to work in net, racking up 68 shots and forcing 58 saves. Cedric Hansen made 14 stops and Georgis Rentopoulos made 44. Ottawa surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Senators have scored at the pace of 3.5 goals per game during the current campaign.

Ottawa also got points from Daniel Sarracco, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, Van Stralen, who also racked up two goals and one assist, Jody Sullivan, who also tallied one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, and Mitchell Gibson, who also registered one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Ottawa included Alexandre Way, who had two and Cameron White and Jaren Burke, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa were Isaac Anderson, Greg Meireles, Dean Hewines, and Elie Boulerice, who each chipped in one and Sean Rappleyea, Zacharie Car, and Zachary Cross, who contributed two each.

The Rangers were led by Paul Vella, who scored the team's only goal. Vella scored 16:07 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Ottawa.

Ian Andriano rejected 20 shots on goal for Ottawa. The Senators ended with no penalties and went 2-for-4 on the power play. Gloucester incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors and had no power play opportunities.
