Pembroke boosted by Mollot-Hill's play in net, beats Cornwall 5-1

 

The Pembroke Lumber Kings relied on the sparkling performance of Gabe Mollot-Hill in net to grab a 5-1 win against the Cornwall Colts.

 

Pembroke was led by Brett Horn, who racked up one goal. Horn scored 4:56 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pembroke. Brock Rumbaugh assisted on the tally.

The Lumber Kings put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Cornwall to score on any of its five power plays. The Colts were unable to stop Pembroke from sending pucks towards the net, and the Lumber Kings eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Pembroke additionally got points from Ryan Casselman, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Rumbaugh, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Pembroke included Will Lavezzorio and Tyler ONeill, who each put in one. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Colton Keuhl, Jesse Blais, and Nicolas Vlahos, who each chipped in one.

Cornwall excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Colts could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Cornwall averages 3.1 goals per game.

The Colts were led by Tristan Elie, who scored the team's only goal. Elie scored 17:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cornwall. Dean Derouchie provided the assist.

Pembroke's Mollot-Hill stopped 29 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Lumber Kings incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. James Edwardson made 29 saves for Cornwall on 34 shots. The Colts incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
