Ottawa squeaks by Kanata, 4-2

 

The game between the Ottawa Senators and the Kanata Lasers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Ottawa emerged with a 4-2 win.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Luke McCaw at 4:25 of the second period.

 

Daniel Sarracco was all over the ice for the Senators, as he registered two goals in the win. Sarracco's tallies came on the power play at 2:12 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Ottawa and on the power play 19:10 into the third to make the score 4-2 Ottawa.

Ottawa pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes.

The Senators forced Kanata goalie Patrick Kealey to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Isaac Anderson also scored for Ottawa. More assists for Ottawa came via Jim Pearson, who had two and Jody Sullivan, Mitchell Gibson, and Geoffrey Lawson, who contributed one each.

The Lasers were helped by Tyler Young, who racked up one goal. Young scored on the power play 14:45 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Ottawa. Kanata had gotten the advantage when Ottawa's Lawson was sent off for tripping. Louis-Charles Croteau assisted on the tally. Kanata also got a goal from Joey Laird as well. In addition, Kanata received assists from Michael Locatelli and Will Gauthier, who each chipped in one.

Marcus Paulino rejected 14 shots on goal for the Senators. Ottawa registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Patrick Kealey made 32 saves for the Lasers on 36 shots. Kanata incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
